Two different videos
Applying to Y Combinator? Keep that one simple. YC asks for a one-minute video of the founders talking, without a script and without a demo, and a screen recording of a video call is fine. Record it yourselves.
The video for your website, your investor updates and your round is a different job: it has to hold attention without you in the room. Guides tell founders what to say. Few show how to get a founder on camera so that an investor believes them. That is the part we do.
How we film it
- We agree the structure with you: the problem, the product in real use and the evidence you already have. Plain questions, no script.
- We film at your office, lab or workshop, where the product works. The set takes about 30 minutes, and Tomáš prepares each founder before the camera rolls.
- You get a main film and short cuts for your website, investor updates and social channels.

How long should a founder video be?
For the Y Combinator application, one minute, as YC asks. For your website or a round, 60 seconds to 3 minutes for the main film, plus short cuts. We agree the lengths in the proposal.
What do YC and investors want to see?
YC asks the founders to introduce themselves and explain what they are doing and why, spontaneously, without a demo. Investors after the application want the same, done well: who you are, what you are building and evidence that it works.
Can you film at our office or lab?
Yes, that is where we prefer to film. We bring cinema cameras, professional lighting and broadcast-grade audio, and the set takes about 30 minutes.
